The Acai Berry was first discovered by the tribes of the Amazon jungle thousands of years ago and used by healers for treating a variety of medical afflictions. It comes from a palm that is up to 25 metres high, the berries themselves are clustered and similar to a group of blue bottles in appearance. Unlike many supplements, these berries have a zesty flavour and are a welcome addition to the palate.
Acai is bursting with energy and is rich in proteins, fibre, vitamins and essential omega oils as well as Amino acids. The berries fatty acid ratio is similar to that of olive oil, a well-known healthy cooking aid. Research has also concluded that the berry has fat controlling properties, similar to those found in red wine.
