Garcinia Cambogia is a tropical fruit found growing in India, Myanmar and Indonesia. The fruit is similar in shape to a pumpkin but grows to the size of an orange and ripens to a red or yellow colour. Other common names include brindeberry, Malabar tamarind and kudman puli.
The key ingredient of Garcinia Cambogia is found in its rind and is known as HCA – Hydroxycitric acid. HCA naturally blocks fat formation is it blocks a part of the citrate lyase enzyme which assists in changing sugars and starches into fat. Carbohydrates are redirected into energy production as opposed to being stored as body fat. While actively promoting fat metabolism, Garcinia Cambogia also functions effectively as an appetite suppressant.
Garcinia Cambogia is a well-known weight loss aid as fat metabolism is improved through the blocking action of HCA (and ingredient in the rind of the fruit) against enzymes which contribute to the formation of fat cells. In addition, the increase of neurotransmitter serotonin results in feeling happier for longer which can assist in curbing cravings for comfort foods as well as providing an overall appetite suppressant.
